My name is Nurfarhain Nabila binti Mohd Yasin. Hello there ;)

should young children own mobile phones?

Mobile phone is the image of modernisation. Mobile phones were originally designed to get connected with other people easily as it is light and easy to carry around wherever. In the past, mobile phones were considered a material, but now it is a necessity. Nowadays, mobile phones are being widely used by all ages and society including young children. The big question is, should young children own mobile phones? There are several pros and cons that i would like to point out on the issue of young children owning a mobile phone.

Firstly, in my opinion, young children should own a mobile phones because it could be used for emergency cases. As we all know, in this modern age, we could not run away from the fact that we are now living in a very dangerous and harsh environment that could harm these innocent young children. This reality makes every concerned parents grant their children mobile phones hoping that they would know what is happening to their children immediately in whatever situation. I think that we could all agree that is better safe than sorry, right?

Besides that, young children should own mobile phones because the application of the mobile phone itself helps these young children in their daily tasks. For example, every mobile phones nowadays have an application of alarm clock, notes, calendar, to-do-list, internet, camera and so much more. These application could be used to make them more organised and prepared. With mobile phones, young children could also get connected with their friends, classmates or even teachers to ask anything regarding school or homeworks that they had missed.

In contrast, there are also a negative side on the youngsters who owned mobile phones. Mobile phones could effect family and social relationship of these young children. When they are busy texting with their friends, they could develop distance between them and their family because to them, talking to their friends are much more easy and exciting until they would rely more on their friends and not family. As for social relationship, young children who owned mobile phones would become unskilled in face to face communication because they were so obssessed with texting through mobile phones to the point where they would not have the confidence to talk face to face or in public.

Futhermore, mobile phones could also triggered social illness among young children. Mobile phones nowadays are missused as a platfrom of slender and also to spread pornographic materials such as photos and videos. This is a sickening reality that is currently spreading and attacking young children. Young children is easy to accept and apply what is happening in their surroundings, therefore owning a mobile phone without being monitered could damage their mind and morality.

The conclusion is, mobile phones is not a living and breathing thing like us, humans. We as the intelligent human being should know how to live side by side with such technologies like mobile phones. Should young children own mobile phones? You decide.
